The American Society of Agronomy, Crop Science Society of America, and Soil Science Society of America will host a webinar on Thursday, Feb. 6 at 11 a.m. (CT), "Leveraging the Societies for Networking and Connection."

This free webinar explores how professionals in agronomy, crop science, and soil science can utilize these societies to build valuable relationships, collaborate on research, and advance their careers.
Speakers for the webinar include Samira Daroub, president of Soil Science Society of America; Peter Kyveryga, president of American Society of Agronomy; and Mark Sorrells, president of Crop Science Society of America. Each leader will provide insights on how their respective societies contribute to career advancement and professional growth within their fields.

For decades, the ASA, CSSA, and SSSA have been the leading member organizations in the agricultural sciences. With over 8,000 scientists, researchers, and career professionals, as well as 12,000 certified professionals such as Certified Crop Advisers and Certified Professional Soil Scientists, these societies have played a leading role in advancing agricultural science and supporting the career growth of professionals across the globe. Their extensive networks and resources are vital for fostering innovation and collaboration in agronomy, crop science, and soil science.

Daroub, president of the Soil Science Society of America, shares "I joined the societies as a graduate student and found a home not only to present my research, but to advance my career in ways I would not have imagined then."

"Being a member of SSSA allowed me excellent opportunities to network, meet job recruiters, and take advantage of professional opportunities for leadership and scientific training. As president of SSSA, I want to ensure that all members, especially students and early-career members, have a positive experience and take advantage of the many professional opportunities we offer to advance their career and professional growth."

Kyveryga, president of American Society of Agronomy, added, "ASA is unique as it hosts the International Certified Crop Advisers program, with 12,000 CCA agronomists who work daily with farmers, making critical agronomic and environmental decisions. More than half of M.S. and Ph.D. graduates will be working in the ag industry in different roles. CCA certification can be an early start in your ag industry career."

Sorrells, president of Crop Science Society of America, emphasized, "I've been a member of the crop science society for 52 years and I encourage everyone to grow your career through leadership, professional development and networking by becoming and maintaining your membership."
The webinar will provide attendees with the tools and knowledge to effectively engage with the ASA, CSSA, and SSSA communities to enhance their careers.
