Find out more about greenhouse ecosystems and the role of LEDs
In controlled environments like greenhouses, this presents a complex challenge: plants, workers, and pollinators each require distinct lighting conditions. Striking the right balance is essential for both productivity and ecological harmony.
The Critical Role of Airflow in Greenhouses
To address the challenges of transitioning to full LED, Food Autonomy developed LEDFan®, a two-in-one solution.
Signify and Grodan start third year of low-energy trial to test holistic approach on larger tomatoes on the vine
As part of the trial, the Axia Macxize XR variety was transplanted 24th of September in week 39, where light levels are increased to 350 µmol/m2/s, compared to versus 300 µmol/m2/s in the last season.
Cree LED and ADJ Enter Settlement and Limited License Agreement
As part of the settlement, Cree LED granted ADJ a limited license to certain Cree LED patents covering LED components.
Competitive Advantages of LED Greenhouse Lighting
Not all LED greenhouse lights are created equal. Learn how dynamic lighting with real-time spectrum control delivers superior yield, quality, and energy savings.
Signify helps CosMic Plants consistently produce top quality Phalaenopsis orchids with an expansion of its Philips LED lighting installation
• Philips LED toplighting paired with GrowWise control system enables custom light recipe mimicking the natural habitat of orchids.
• CosMic Plants boosted light output by 35-40% and experienced an equal reduction in energy consumption by switching to Philips LED toplighting.
• Plug-and-play design of Philips LED toplighting linear facilitates easy installation and maintenance.
Indoor Farming Equipment Market to Surpass USD 98.9 Billion by 2034
Several long-term factors are driving this expansion, including growing concerns about food safety and environmental sustainability.
The Cost of Downtime: How Reliable Lighting Impacts Commercial Profits
In commercial cultivation, uptime is everything. Any disruption-from a single light failure to a complete zone outage-can derail production schedules, reduce yield quality, and cut into profits.
Signify and Grodan research trial confirms low-energy tomato cultivation is achievable with holistic approach
Recent research by Signify, Grodan and its partners Ridder, Normec Groen Agro Control, Wireless Value, Ammerlaan and BASF demonstrates that low-energy tomato production can be achieved without compromising yield or quality, provided a holistic cultivation approach is applied. The second year of the trial delivered:

Photophyll™ Select from CREE LED
Photophyll Select is a new phosphor-converted LED color with blue and green spectral output tuned for horticulture applications. These LEDs are designed to replace the white LEDs that are common in two-channel white + red horticulture luminaires. By maximizing green content and minimizing red content versus standard lighting LEDs, this LED color enables significant enhancements to luminaire cost and performance. Photophyll Select LEDs are the industry's first LEDs to be entirely binned in horticulture metrics, enabling more straightforward spectrum design without confusing translations or conversions. The spectral output of these LEDs is binned into two metrics, both of which are based on the amount of PPF in standard Blue (400-499 nm), Green (500-599 nm) and Red (600-700 nm) bands. The two spectral metrics are percentage of Red PPF content and the ratio of Green to Blue PPF content.
