ONDO Smart Farming Solutions Setting up Trainings to Help Farmers Fit the EU Green Deal Requirements
The training sessions are aimed at educating farmers about the requirements of the Green Deal and how ONDO Precision farming solution would help them fit those within shortest terms.
[Aug 17, 2020, Sofia, Bulgaria] ONDO Smart Farming Solutions - an agritech startup providing precision farming solutions, including precise management and control of drip irrigation, fertigation and climate control - announced that it has started planning a number of training events to help farmers fit the requirements of the European Green Deal.
The European Green Deal is a set of policy initiatives by the European Commission, with the ultimate goal of making Europe climate neutral in 2050. The Deal defines a roadmap of actions to be taken in pursuit of this goal and among them is reducing the fertilizers used in agriculture with 20% by 2030.
The use of fertilizers in agriculture is known to contribute to many harmful environmental effects like contamination of the soil, water and air which, indirectly, cause the death of animal species like insects, birds, mammals as well as plants, which affects the biological diversity. Reducing the amount of fertilizer used in farming is a needed step towards sustainable agriculture but farmers are reluctant to take it, seeing in it a serious threat to productivity.
Being a precision farming solution, allowing farmers to optimize the water and fertilizers used during the plant growth, ONDO is surely among the tools that farmers can use to fit the fertigation requirements of the Green Deal with no negative consequences for the crop. "Using ONDO precision farming solution farmers can turn the Green Deal into an opportunity - for cleaner crops, reduced fertigation expenses and as a result - higher competitiveness on the EU market." - said ONDO Head of Product and Sales Ivaylo Enev. "By using ONDO, farmers would fertilize their crops just when the usage of fertilizers would be most efficient and beneficial for the plants. The efficiency may depend on the soil moisture, weather forecast (e.g no rain forecast in the next days), air moisture, etc. ONDO collects and analyzes this data using sensors, then automatically releases fertilizer at just the right time, letting farmers save costs while at the same time boosting their yield."
ONDO team has already planned a number of training sessions, aimed at educating farmers about the requirements of the Green Deal and how ONDO Precision farming solution would help them fit those within shortest terms. The trainings will be announced on ONDO Blog, but interested farmers can also register their interest to participate via contacting ONDO on their website.
